Katie’s Makeup Favorites
Hi friends, today I am talking my favorite accessory, make-up! I find bringing home a bag of new make-up more exciting than a bag of new clothes. Today I am sharing my go to make-up items.
Do you follow Cara Brook on instagram? If you don’t you need to! I love her make-up tutorials. This tutorial is a great soft makeup tutorial. I love Cara’s tips on skin contouring. She is amazing and totally changed my make-up game. I love trying new make-up but this is my current favorite list:
Skin:
The first makeup I put on my face every day is Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. I love this product because it feels like a moisturizer, has sunscreen, and helps even my skin tone and blur lines. It is a game changer if you have never used it. I use shade Natural 05.
Genetically, I have dark circles under my eyes. I do a couple of layers of concealer to help hide the black. After I put on my Complexion Rescue all over my face I start with contouring my face with Tarte Shape Tape color 20B.
After I conceal my face and any blemishes, I do an all over coat of my favorite foundation, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. The price tag was initially a hard pill to swallow, but one bottle lasts me a couple of months. I figure it is around $20.00 a month to use. My shade is 5.5 or 6.5 depending on the time of year.
After my foundation I start contouring my face using Benefit Quickie Contour Stick on my jawline, cheekbones and forehead. I then use Cover-FX Total Cover Cream Foundation to highlight under my eyes, bridge of nose, chin and in-between my eyebrows. I use shade N-20.
Powders:
When I first thought of Meryl Norman, I immediately think Grandma make-up. I was so wrong, their powders are soooo SMOOTH! I like to set my dark contour with this bronzer because it goes on so smooth and doesn’t clump on dry skin. I use their Bronzing Powder Duo in color Satin.
For my neck and nose contour I use “Too faced” chocolate Solei because it has more of a matte finish.
To set my under eye concealer, I use Benefit Hello Happy Velvet Powder Foundation Color: 2. It is so smooth and amazing.
My everyday blush is Benefit Gold Rush Blush. I love the subtleness of their blush with the pretty rose gold undertones. I also really like Nars color impassioned.
Lips:
While I love pink lipstick, most of the time I throw on a gloss and nothing underneath. My number one lipgloss is Buxom Creamy Lipgloss. My favorite shade is White Russian.
I am not a dark lip-pencil girl, so I love the White Russian lip pencil by Buxom because it feels so neutral. However, if I am feeling fancy and want a dramatic lip, my combination is Nars color: Damage lined with White Russian Buxom liner and a gloss on top.
Eyebrows and Eyes:
I always do my brows after my skin. I start with the Brow wiz by Anasastia in Medium Brown to shape my brows.
I then use Anastasia Brow Powder to fill in my brows in color medium brown, and finish my brows with Anastasia clear brow gel.
I am a simple eye shadow girl and either use one of my bronzers on my eye-lids or I use Urban Decay Midnight Rodeo. I need some you tube recommendations on eye shadow, help!
I am an eyelash extension addict and have been getting my eyelashes done for years. so I love that I don’t have to wear mascara. However, for my bottom lashes I either use great lash or buxom mascara.
Highlight:
My last touch of makeup is my favorite highlighter, that will change your life…It is Stila Heaven's Hue Highlighter. I use color: Opulence. It makes your skin glow even after zero sleep!
I have found a fresh face of make-up sets the mood for my day and I am a million times more productive when I don’t feel like a slob. Happy Make-up Shopping!
