Skincare Essentials

Let's face it, skincare is overwhelming! With so many options to choose from where do you even start? Health Harvard claims, "Despite manufacturers' claims, many cosmetic products will remove more cash from your wallet than dirt and oils from your skin. You don't need an expensive or lengthy skin care routine — and the good news is, the most effective and reliable regimen is also quick and inexpensive." The medical journal claims for healthy skin: cleanse, protect, and treat problemed area. So if you are wondering where to start, start there!

Sunscreen is your best friend when it comes to anti-aging….along with grabbing your hat and sunglasses on the way to the beach. However, if you are taking the necessary steps to protect your skin from harmful U/V rays what is next? I claim to be no expert on skincare but I do find it festinating, so here is what I have found in my research:

  1. Your skin loves Vitamins! Use Vitamin C in the morning, this one smells like sunshine and I look forward to wearing it every morning. It helps protect your skin from sun damage. Then use Vitamin A at night to help repair skin cells while you sleep!

  2. COLLAGEN. You should be drinking and putting collagen on your skin everyday. Collagen keeps skin elastic and not saggy. I like this collagen in my smoothie in the morning.

  3. Enter in the Beauty Bio Micro-needlng tool. It stimulates new bouncy skin cells, maximizes skincare absorption, tightens pores, and smooths texture. So basically, even with the price tag you need one!

  4. Always Exfoliate! My favorite exfoliant is Rodan and Fields reverse. Throw away your cheap exfoliator from the grocery store. The scrubbing beads in cheap stuff just clogs your pores. If you want a secret step, shave your face in the shower like a guy! It take off all the peach fuzz and makes your skin so smooth for makeup.

  5. Retinal. The application of retinol helps repair fine lines. My favorite retinol is the Nightly and Brookes favorite is Obage. A good retinal can transform your face!

  6. For those wanting a more natural approach to skin care, apple cider toner paired with Coconut Oil is such a great way to cleanse and protect your skin. Have you ever had pink eye and put coconut oil on your eye? Then magically in a couple of hours the infection is gone? Think of that same power on your face everyday! If anything it is a cheap way for an effective skincare product.

  7. For those who are prone to break outs, PCA BPO face wash along with their clear-skin moisturizer has literally saved my skin from breakouts, and if you do get a breakout go and get your self some zit patches off amazon!

  8. I like PCA’s undereye cream, but if we are being honest I would love a cheaper option that works just as good! So if anyone has suggestions, send them our way! Dr. Brandt no more baggage eye cream is my favorite for in the morning, especially after a long sleepless night with a newborn! Always roll out those puffy eyes with a rose quartz roller too! I think the cheap ones at TJ Maxx work just as good as the really expensive ones!

  9. Always finish your night-time routine with Laneige lip mask. It makes your lips so nice for the next day.

I have found if I stray for even a couple of hours and don’t cleanse my face for too long after my workout, I will inevitably get a zit, so whatever you do make a routine and stick to it!

We would love to hear what you can’t live without in your skincare routine!

Happy Cleansing!
