It’s Great to be 8!

Throwing a larger event or party dosen’t always need to feel overwhelming. It can be fun and I’ve learned a few ideas along the way that have really helped me be able to enjoy the party, be organized, and also not break the bank. Follow along and let me know what you have coming up or any tips you’ve learned along the way.

All white bounce house! The was the perfect way to bring the fun indoor and outdoors. The kids were busy jumping and the adults could sit and visit.

It also made the most perfect photo backdrop and the all white was very suiting for a baptism.

I made the marquee #8! It was so easy you guys! And cheap! I’ll share a full tutorial soon but for now here is a list of the materials I used:

  • 6 foam poster boards

  • hot glue gun

  • razor blade knife

  • template

  • clear packing tape

  • balloons (2 sizes)

  • glue dots

My amazing mom, Jolene Christiansen with JO C Home brought this to life with the most amazing all white balloon garland. She has so many talents and can pretty much do anything! I just love her and have learned so much from her. It’s also a huge blessing we both love doing this type of stuff because bouncing off ideas and helping each other fills our days with love and lots of fun errands! ;) Thanks again, mom!

The White Castle. Need I say more? It’s not just a bounce house. This baby was first on my list for the party and I’m so glad we did it! I know you can rent other bounce houses but those seemed too colorful and I really wanted to emphasize that all white theme for the baptism. We loved working with them and really think their bounce houses are such a great way to bring the party to life!

Serving a larger number at your next event? Don’t worry! It’s not too stressful. The number one tip I have for working with large groups is find your “special wow moment” and work from there. For me it was the bounce house and I knew if my efforts were on that the food need to be a little easier. I always choose a few fun details that are important to me and worth the extra time and money spend. The other details can be pretty and nice still but maybe not as expensive or time consuming.

Since we were serving such a large number and my son loves popcorn and potatoes I decided to do a baked potato bar. It’s easy to feed a lot of people but still gave me details to work with so I could add layers and different serving pieces to show off the food table. I used stands to hold all the toppings and fun little tongs instead of spoons because that’s just more fun, right?

THE POPCORN BAR! Thanks to The Popcorn Cottage we were able to grab a few fun yummy flavors for the guests to enjoy outside (popcorn inside seemed like a bad idea! haha) and to snack on before or after their potato. I grabbled some cute little bags and scoops and that was it! Find a few buckets or baskets and this turned out to be really fun and functional.

Décor & Desserts

Adding some updated seasonal decor items (we picked our own sunflowers) and lighting a candle for the mood.

8 desserts! Such a fun and cute details by my mom, Jo C Home.

Drinks can always be an easy way to keep things simple. Here we used buckets to keep the drinks cool on ice and also made for a little statement piece as well.

We’re so happy we were able to hold this gathering and share these details of our life with you! Happy hosting!
