Ballet Barre Tutorial
This ballet barre was so fun and super EASY to make and only cost about $45! All you need are a few simple things and this darling ballet barre will come to life making all your tiny ballerinas' dreams come true!
Tiny Ballerinas
We’ve been seeing these pop up a lot lately and they seemed easy and affordable so I really wanted to give it a go and make one for my daughter. We only have one girl so you know how that goes, lots of accessories and fun girl things all the time. I’ve been known to weld my own tufted ottoman, build, sew and create lots of many fun things and this barre was truly one of the easiest things! It can be done in a day and bonus, your kiddos can even help you.
Lucky for me, my grandpa Joe is the best helper and my go to person when building things. If I have questions on tools or can’t find a specific nail, I either call him and he has the perfect answer or I head to his garage which is basically like a mini Lowes or Home Depot. It’s very organized with all the things!! Tools, random building materials, heavy machinery, and best of all, my visits always come with a Coke and a treat.
Although 2020 was tricky with elderly or senior people we didn’t let that stop us from doing what we love. We kept our distance outside in a garage and got to work!
So what’s the game plan?
What you will need…
TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT:
Measuring Tape
PVC Pipe Cutter
PVC Pipe Glue (plumbers cement)
Spray Paint
Rubber Mallet
Permanent Marker
Acetone
MATERIALS:
1- 20 foot long 32 mm PVC Pressure Pipe (1.25”)
4-tees for pressure pipe 1.25”
6-elbows for pressure pipe 1.25”
Step One…
Step 1- Cut your pipe.
Grab your long 20 foot pipe and cut it into 2-10 foot long pipes.
Step 2- Assemble your ballet barre. ( see diagram below of my drawing/plans)
Start with the feet
Insert the legs
Insert the lower barre
Add on the middle height extenders
Last step, add the upper bar
Step 3-Secure all your connections with rubber mallet or pvc glue (plumbers cement). I used glue just so I couldn’t make extra sure my 2 year old wouldn’t hang on it and pull it apart because we all know how life gets with kids!;)
Step 4-Use your acetone to remove all the stickers and printed writing on your pipes.
Step 5-Spray paint the barre. I used Gloss Pink Blush by Krylon. It made for the perfect pink that’s sweet and not too bright and could match any ballet slippers to really pull in the theme of the barre.
